Syllabus Information

1. General information

It is an introductory subject in the contents of tourism law, essential to acquire the knowledge necessary to achieve the specific competences of Tourism graduates in terms of legislation. Specifically, aims to provide an approach to the knowledge of the basic concepts of law and especially tourism law, identifying its organization, main institutions and rules of action. In addition, special emphasis is placed on the legal regimeof tourist establishments.

These approaches and goals are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030 (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), such that the acquisition of the subject learning results provides training and competence to contribute to some extent to their achievement: ODS 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,15,16,17

- Know and be able to handle legislation and jurisprudence, as well as diverse bibliographic sources.

- Master the concepts of the subject within the framework of a global and integrative perspective.

- Know how to solve real legal cases and problems.

3. Syllabus

Unit 1.- The legal system. Sources of the Legal System.

Unit 2.- Tourism Law. Characteristics of Tourism Law. The distribution of competences in matters of tourism: State, Autonomous Communities and Local Entities. Conflicts of competence in the field of tourism.

Unit 3.- The tourist.

Unit 4- Legal-administrative regime of hotel and non-hotel accommodations.

Unit 5- Legal-administrative regime of tourist apartments and dwellings for tourist use.

Unit 6-Legal-administrative regime of the Tourist Campsites. Camping. Motor home areas. Unit 7- Legal-administrative regime of the lodgings of rural tourism.

Unit 8- Legal-administrative regime of shelters and refuges.

Unit 9- Administrative-legal regime of restaurants, cafeterias and bars.

Unit 10- Legal-administrative regime of Travel Agencies and Reservation Centers.

Unit 11.- Tourist Guides.

Unit 12- The regulation of the activities of active tourism.

Unit 13. Associations. Notions of civil contracting.

4. Academic activities

Attendance to theoretical classes: 35 hours

Attendance to practical classes: 25 hours

Attendance to tutorials: 5 hours

Preparation of academically directed work: 24 hours

Exam preparation: 30 hours

Conducting examinations: 6 hours

Preparation of practical classes: 25 hours

5. Assessment system

The student has the right to use the following evaluation systems: continuous evaluation system and global evaluation system.

1) CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

Continuous evaluation requires the active participation of the student and the participation in the tasks and activities scheduled during the term. Active participation in classes is required.

The final grade of the subject will result from the weighted sum of the assessment activities, and a minimum final grade of 5 points must be obtained . Throughout the term there will be 2 exams of 5 questions each. To be able to mediate, it is necessary to obtain at least 4.5 in each one of them, having, as indicated above, to obtain a minimum final grade of 5 points

2) GLOBAL ASSESSMENT SYSTEM

{Those students who opt for this system or who do not pass the continuous assessment will have to take an individual test at the end of the semester (in the assessment calendar provided by the University of Zaragoza), which will account for 100% of the final grade.

The structure of the exam will be: 5 short questions on theoretical contents of the whole course.

In order to pass the subject it is necessary to obtain a minimum total score of five points out of ten (either in continuous assessment or in the Global Test).

In the event of the suspension of face-to-face teaching activities, the changes to be made will be introduced in the teaching guide through an addendum.
